Since 2023, UC Berkeley Recreation & Wellbeing has staffed and supported the Community Center at the University Village. The community center provides vital programming and personal development opportunities to meet the needs of family housing residents and UC Berkeley students living at University Village.
Holistic fitness: Programming for all ages at the University Village Community Center
UC Berkeley Recreation & Wellbeing provides holistic recreation support and services, which are split into adult and youth programming:
- Adult fitness (Ages 17+): UC Berkeley student residents at University Village receive free access to the facilities. This includes the exercise facility with cardio and weight equipment, including Peloton bikes, group fitness classes like yoga, Zumba, Barre, and Boot Camp, and open recreation for sports like basketball and badminton.
- Youth and children’s programs (Ages 2-18): A wide array of programming is available for children, including specialized programs like, soccer, skate, and circus. Key offerings include the Afterschool Program for grades K-5 and summer and holiday break camps. These youth programs are managed by the experienced UC Berkeley Youth Recreation team, formerly Cal Youth Camps. Note: the University Village also has a “Teen Program” that centers on community development and community-building for teenagers living in The Village.
